Research Topic Emotion understanding during Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning
Summary of Research

I am investigating how the understanding of other’s emotions influences the social interaction and performance during collaborations around concept mapping tools, educational computer games and cooperative computer games.

I combine qualitative video analysis with statistical methods such as dyadic analysis and multilevel regression.

These techniques, for example, have showed that supporting affective awareness (awareness of the partner’s emotions, e.g., frustration) makes a more pleasant and productive collaborative experience.

Research Supervisors Dr. Shaaron Ainsworth and Dr. Charles Crook
