LSRI wins £10K for research sandpit

LSRI has been awarded £10K funding from the university to support a research development workshop around the theme "learning for embodied cognition".  Invitations are to individuals interested in working up potential funding bids with an interdisciplinary flavour.

LSRI and LKL win NESTA contract

LSRI in collaboration with the London Knowledge Lab have won a contract from the agency NESTA (National Endowment for Science Technology and the Arts) to carry out reviews on the impact of new technologies and associated practices in education. The work will involve Shaaron Ainsworth, Brett Bligh  and Charles Crook from the LSRI collaborating with Rose Luckin, Andy Manches (LSRI gradduate) and Richard Noss from the LKL.  The resulting report is likely to have significant influence on the development of policy, research, and practice around educational technology.

LSRI postgraduate wins university prize

Natasa Lackovic has been awarded the "Andrew Hendry Postgraduate Scholarship" for progress in her research and activity within the postgraduate community.

The Andrew Hendry Postgraduate Scholarship was founded in 1968 from subscriptions raised in memory of the late Mr Andrew Hendry, Bursar of the University from 1948-66.

Natasa will receive the award at a presentation on 3rd May 2012,12.30pm in the Senate Chamber LG101, Trent Building.

TES celebrates Wonder Room

A recent commentary in the Times Educational Supplement reviews the work that doctoral student Matthew McFall is doing on a "Wonder Room" for schools.  This project is hosted by Nottingham University Samworth Academy. The room furnishes a "treasure trove of curious objects" which students are encouraged to explore.  This report highlights how successful the room has been in terms of engaging students.  Plans are in place to spread the initiative.
